Principles

Client-first. If the math fits in a browser tab, it runs there. No server round-trip for text encoding, hashing text, or parsing URLs.
Server only where needed. Image transcode is server-side because Sharp + vips beat anything the browser ships. Routes are rate-limited and drop the bytes on the floor after response.
No telemetry. Nothing leaves the box that you didn't personally submit.
Boring on purpose. Plain forms, system fonts, one accent color. Interfaces age better when they commit to less.
